Deena Ball

Artist Bio

Deena S. Ball is an award-winning fine artist who lives in the Philadelphia area. She also spends time on the Eastern Shore with her family.

Deena's love of nature, science and art comes together when she paints outside. She is a student of nature who is constantly amazed at the natural world. She paints to help others see, respect, and conserve the beauty in our natural world. Throughout her thirty plus years of teaching experience, that is what she strives to impart to all of her students. Through her own work with experimental watercolors, she presents the viewer with the beauty and fragility of our natural landscape. In her paintings, she is constantly testing new materials and techniques, incorporating textural elements such as gesso, and trying different types of paper. She teaches the full range of art mediums, including printmaking and graphic design, but is mostly at home teaching drawing and painting.

Deena earned a BA from Colby College, Waterville Maine. She studied at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine, and studied with Skip Lawrence, Jean Uhl Spicer, Domenic DiStephano, and Don Andrews.
