From the formation of galaxies to the electrical circuit activity of our hearts, there’s a pattern that connects. How does this happen? Physics theorist Eve Armstrong spoke about the unexpected connections between the “small-world architecture” in our nervous system and the “cosmic web” in cosmology.

Dr. Armstrong is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at New York Institute of Technology in Manhattan, and research associate in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. She is interested in modeling nonlinear phenomena in neuroscience—particularly phenomena related to acoustic signal processing. She also conducts research in astrophysics and has a keen interest in public engagement with science, presenting educational science sketch comedy for the general public and experimenting with artistic methods of exploring scientific concepts in the classroom.
