Chesapeake College Department of Welding and Fabrication Training has extended a unique invitation to the membership of Chestertown RiverArts to attend a workshop at their facility in Wye, Maryland. This first-rate teaching and fabrication facility is an ideal environment for the beginner and expert who want to get a "feel for steel.” With eighteen welding stations, a plasma cutting machine, milling machines and forging equipment, students will be introduced to basic welding and metal forming skills, and come away with a functional object that demonstrates the quality of their learning experience. Safety Equipment is available but students may want to purchase their own safety glasses or face shields and leather gloves. All skill levels and genders are welcome! This Continuing Education Course will explore the basics of metal forming and shaping, in addition to welding and cutting techniques. Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to: Explore the basics of GMAW (MIG) Welding and blacksmithing. Produce functional decorative elements from parts with improvisation.
