This B&W Film photo was taken between 1980 and 1983 at the Fourth of July Celebration at the US Capital concert. It was a annual tradition in my family to bring a meal, a blanket and sit in harmony with fellow citizens. It was a happy celebration of the founding or our democratic republic with music and fireworks on the steps of our Capital building,
Note on Composition: This is an interesting perspective where Bill chose to photograph the audience of a concert with its iconic background rather than the concert itself. What are the people looking at? What do their different expressions mean? Why are the people looking in different directions? Its these questions that make this an interesting image. Taking a picture of the concert itself would be like one of a million other pictures.
