Class^Clay Studio
To help us keep our spaces open while protecting our visitors, staff, and volunteers:
Everyone over the age of 2 must wear masks indoors at all RiverArts spaces, regardless of vaccination status. We also ask that you practice good social distancing, especially when gathered indoors for a lengthy period of time, as in a class.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to respond to changing conditions.
The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 6 - 8:30 pm on Tuesdays, running from January 18th through February 22nd. (6 weeks)
This course introduces the fundamentals of handbuilding to students of any experience level. Students will learn the process of handbuilding through pinching, coiling and slab building clay, and glaze their work into finished pieces to take home with them. Class time and the encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills with clay.
Included with instruction is twenty-five pounds of cone 6 clay (Standard Brown 112) and six Open Studio tickets. If you need a basic pottery toolkit, they are available for purchase in class for an additional $30.
Handbuilding programs are intended for persons aged 14 or older. Please email the Studio manager Chris at chrisneiman@chestertownriverarts.org with any questions.
