Marlon Saunders

Marlon Saunders is a singer, actor, songwriter and record producer. Marlon toured as the vocal contractor/choir director for Stevie Wonder’s “Songs In The Key of Life Tour.” He also served as the vocal contractor for Sam Smith and Bastille. Marlon has toured with Bobby McFerrin as a member of his vocal group, Voicestra. As a session and touring singer, he has worked with a variety of artists such as Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Billy Joel, Sting, Darius Rucker, Donald Brown, Joe Henderson, Ron Carter, Shawn Colvin, Nine Inch Nails, Jane Siberry, Shania Twain, Vanessa Williams, Julee Cruise, Martha Wash, Freddie Jackson, Jeffrey Osbourne, Tramaine Hawkins, Peabo Bryson, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Ronald K. Brown. Marlon appears as the Calypso Singer in the popular Disney film, Enchanted. Marlon sings the Academy Award-nominated song, “That’s How You Know” with Amy Adams, who appears in the role of Giselle. The song also received best-song nominations at the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Awards. Marlon also performed “That’s How You Know” live at the 80th Annual Academy Awards with Tony award winner Kristin Chenoweth. Marlon has two solo recordings on his independent label, Black Honey Records: the improvisational A Groove So Deep: The Live Sessions and 2003's Enter My Mind. Marlon was the co-founder of Jazzhole, a New York based band, widely regarded as one of the key members of the acid-jazz movement. Marlon also co-founded the Afrocentric soul-jazz vocal ensemble Sepia, known throughout the world for their soul-stirring lyrics and beautiful harmonies. Marlon most recently composed the music for OBEA’s 2 multi media works, Silent Night featuring Kimberly Marable and Grown Past You, featuring jazzy-soul artist, April Hill. Marlon has contributed to the video game scene as well, particularly games made by Sega. He is best known for doing vocals on both versions of Knuckles' theme, "Unknown From M.E." in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Marlon also performs on the soundtrack to the Burning Rangers game, singing one of the ending songs, "We are Burning Rangers." He also performed a Christmas a cappella version of "Dreams," the theme from Nights into Dreams, with a small vocal ensemble that can be heard during the ending credits of Christmas Nights as well as on its soundtrack.
