Ceramic Handbuilding Class Description

The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 6:00-8:30 pm on Thursdays, running from May 26th through June 30th. (6 weeks)

This course introduces the fundamentals of handbuilding to students of any experience level. Students will learn the process of handbuilding through pinching, coiling and slab building clay, and glaze their work into finished pieces to take home with them. Class time and the encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills.

Included with instruction is twenty-five pounds of cone 6 clay and six Open Studio tickets. If you need a basic pottery toolkit, they are available for purchase in class for an additional $30.

Handbuilding programs are intended for persons aged 16 or older. Please email the Studio manager Chris at chrisneiman@chestertownriverarts.org with any questions.
