May 4 2023: Introduction to the Potters Wheel with Marilee Schumann

Beginners Wheel Class Description

The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 6 - 8:30 pm on Thursdays, running from May 4th through June 22nd. (8 weeks)

For beginners, continuing beginners, and students who would like a refresher in the basics of the wheel. You will practice the basic forms, bowl, cylinder, and sphere, with an emphasis on function. Mare likes to encourage creativity as well as the aesthetics of what makes a good pot. The encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills with clay.

Included with instruction is twenty-five pounds of cone 6 clay and six Open Studio tickets. If you need a basic pottery toolkit, they are available for purchase in class for an additional $30.

Clay Studio wheel programs are intended for persons aged 16 or older. Please email the Studio manager Chris at chrisneiman@chestertownriverarts.org with any questions.
