Artist
Pat Lang, a native Marylander, is primarily a self-taught artist. She began painting in her late teens, learning through trial and error; visiting galleries to study famous works; and reading art instruction publications. As she experimented on techniques new to her, she used these experiences to master her own personal style.
Prior to Covid, Pat taught oil painting at Chesapeake College’s Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) – a program of personal enrichment for seniors 50+. As of 2021, the program has been discontinued.

Pat has received numerous awards for her oil paintings.

“It would be difficult to imagine a life without painting. Art has always been an important part of my life since my childhood school days. I find it to be a form of mediation. When I paint, time doesn’t exist. Hours pass as if only minutes have elapsed. My subjects vary to include landscapes, animals, seascapes and still life. After many years of painting, I continue to challenge myself. Learning and growing in my art never ends, as the process for each new work shows me not only where I am now, but where I want to go.”
