Paint the Town Plus

A New Paint the Town for 2021

Plein Air artists may begin painting anywhere, beginning April 30th in anticipation of a tented exhibit and sale in Fountain Park, Chestertown on Friday, June 4th, coinciding with First Friday celebrations. This means you have a whole month in which to create your masterpieces. The outdoor event will be followed by an indoor gallery exhibit at RiverArts opening Friday, June 11th.

This year, we are not limiting entries to paintings. Bring us your impressions in fabric art, clay and collage. Other ideas are welcome!

There will be awards, including cash prizes for different classes:

  • Plein Air Painters (of course!)
  • Other media, including but not limited to: collage, clay, fabric, metalwork…
  • First time Artists
  • Students
  • Under 10 years old
  • Age 11 to 14
  • Age 15 to 18

Saturday Quick Draw and More

A judged QuickDraw competition and sale will be held in Chestertown on the morning of Saturday June 5th, painting to take place from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, judging and sale immediately afterwards. This is a busy time in the town when the ever-popular Farmers’ Market attracts throngs of visitors who will no doubt delight in the opportunity to watch the artists, see the paintings and judging, and purchase artwork to take home.

Empty Bowls Upside Down

The RiverArts Clay Studio will hold a reinvented, reverse Empty Bowls event to benefit the Kent County Food Pantry. Instead of giving out soup we'll present a drop box for canned and boxed food donations. Those who make a $20 donation to the Food Pantry will choose a beautiful handmade bowls to take home.

Paint the Park with KidSPOT

Young children can visit KidSPOT in the park during the Farmers' Market to try out Plein Air painting too. Canvases and paints will be available for young artists to explore the joys of painting outdoors.

Come and join in the fun in this RiverArts festivals. Register soon, as places are limited!
