A New Paint the Town for 2021

A celebration of artwork and painting en Plein Air

On Friday, June 4th

  • A Tented Exhibit in Fountain Park, Chestertown: Join RiverArts for a beautiful First Friday evening celebration of artists and their work, and a new season of relief and liberation. Artworks created during Paint the Town Plus will be on show and available for purchase.
  • Empty Bowls Upside Down: The RiverArts Clay Studio Community will hold a reinvented, reverse Empty Bowls event to benefit the Kent County Food Pantry. Instead of giving out soup we'll present a drop box for canned and boxed food donations. Those who make a $20 donation to the Kent County Food Pantry will choose a beautiful handmade bowls to take home.

On Saturday, June 5th

  • Judged QuickDraw Competition and Sale: Onlookers will be able to observe Plein Air painting throughout Chestertown from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Judging, awards, and wet paint sale will follow immediately afterwards. The ever-popular Farmers’ Market will coincide with the QuickDraw event, attracting throngs of visitors who will no doubt delight in the opportunity to watch the artists, see the paintings and judging, and purchase artwork to take home.
  • Empty Bowls Upside Down Continues: Another opportunity to drop off your canned and boxed food donations. Make a $20 contribution to the Kent County Food Pantry, and as a thank you, you may choose a beautiful bowl to take home, handmade by the potters of the RiverArts Clay Studio Community.
  • Paint the Park with KidSPOT: Young children can visit KidSPOT in the park during the Farmers' Market to try out Plein Air painting too. Canvases and paints will be available for young artists to explore the joys of painting outdoors.
