Class

Feb 9 - Collaborative Project Class - Yarnstorming How-To (via Zoom)

Tuesday, February 9 at NOON

Join RiverArts staff for this FREE class as we demonstrate a variety of ways to create fun and colorful art from yarn.

We hope that you will be inspired to participate in Adkins Arboretum’s Yarnstorming event which will take place from March 6 through April 3: https://www.adkinsarboretum.org/programs_events/yarn-storming-2021.html

Short demos will be followed by time to create together and share ideas.

Have your yarn handy -- along with some good scissors, some cardboard, and maybe a few sticks from your yard.

Just Google "yarn storming" or "yarn bombing" and you will find thousands of colorful photos of people decorating their world with yarn. For inspiration, read & see photos here:

Yarn art can be a crocheted flower or a knitted "scarf" wrapped around a tree -- but if you don't have those skills in your repertoire yet, there are many other ways to create yarn art:

  • pom-poms
  • wrapping - sticks, rocks, cardboard shapes & letters
  • tassels
  • weaving
